INSURANCE INFORMATION
  • It is the patient's responsibility to understand their plan benefits. These might include:
    • Deductible: Total dollar amount that must be paid by patient before insurance payments kick in (with very specific exceptions); usually renews annually
    • Copayment:  fixed amount due by patient to provider at time of service
    • Co-insurance: a percentage of the provider's allowable rate with a given insurance plan that is deemed patient responsibility
    • Prior authorization (PA) requirements: pre-approval for medication and other services
      • PA are typically initiated through the pharmacy and completed by WCP
      • PAs can also be separately initiated by patients through their insurance
      • If a PA is denied by insurance, both provider and patient can initiate separate appeals
    • Other type of benefit limitation for the services rendered.
  • It is also your responsibility to verify that your provider is in network with your insurance and to set up coordination of benefits with insurance policies prior to being seen.
    • While WCP may be in network with an insurer, the plan itself may be out of network if it is part of that insurer's narrow network
    • Given the sheer number of insurance plans available for any carrier, WCP is unable to provide such information. Patients should contact their insurance individually
  • Any information provided to West Cary Psychiatry or you by your insurance is not a guarantee of coverage.
    • WCP is contractually obligated to collect from a patient or guarantor what the insurance deems is the patient responsibility.
    • If you dispute the amount your insurance has deemed your responsibility, you must contact your insurance to contest this.
    • WCP billing staff is happy to assist in clarifying the information with you, but we have no say in actual plan benefits.
    • Any change in patient responsibility must be communicated to WCP from your insurance company in writing
  • Please provide West Cary Psychiatry with any new insurance information as soon as you receive it.
    • Copies of the front and back of your insurance card can be emailed to our HIPAA compliant email at [email protected]
    • Patients may also update their demographics and upload DL and insurance cards via the patient portal.
